What Is Slapjack Variant?
This Slapjack variant adds extra slap conditions to the classic game, making it more exciting for groups who’ve mastered the original. In addition to slapping Jacks, players can slap for doubles, special numbers, or other patterns depending on which variant rules you choose to include.
What You Need
- A standard 52-card deck
- 2 to 6 players
Setup
- Shuffle well.
- Deal all cards face-down evenly to all players.
- Players keep piles face-down.
How to Play (Base Rules)
Same as standard Slap Jack: players flip cards one at a time to a center pile. First to slap a valid pattern wins the pile.
Extra Slap Conditions (Choose Any Combination)
- Doubles: Two cards of the same rank land in a row → SLAP!
- Sandwiches: Same rank appears on cards 1 and 3 (with any card between them) → SLAP!
- Special rank: Agree on one extra rank that’s slappable (e.g., all Aces or all Queens).
- Jokers: If using Jokers, add them to the deck — whenever a Joker appears → SLAP! Jokers act as wild slap cards.
False Slap Penalty
Slapping when no valid condition exists = pay 3 cards to the center pile (becomes part of the pile for next winner).
Winning
Collect all cards to win. Or set a timer — most cards when time’s up wins.
Tips
- Agree on rules before starting — different households play different variants.
- More slap conditions = more chaotic fun, but also more arguments about false slaps.
- Sandwiches are the hardest to spot — train yourself to track the last-seen card.
